Alfalfa/Grass Varieties for 2007

Our farming knowledge and field results have proven that combining top yielding multi-leaf alfalfa varieties with high quality grass species will produce the best quality hay and haylage fee for your animals.

We have results from 1990 to date that show consistent results year after year. With improved quality grass species and legumes, pastures are able to produce high protein and excellent regrowth even through the dry months of July and August.

Tim Prior of Brussels, Ontario won the Ontario Top Grazer Award in 2001. In 2003, Tim had a 66 acre pasture divided into paddocks which allowed daily rotations. Tim's results were: 85 head of crossbred steers which gained 2.25 lb./day on 153 days of grazing for a gain of 345 lb. Tim also had 12 cow/calves following the steers as a clean up group. Tim's pasture is a modified version of Pasture Mix 216 and Pasture Mix 217 with Deepkrown Alfalfa.
